Dorothy Brown, MBE (1927 - 2013) Campaigner for Bristol’s threatened historic buildings

Dorothy’s passion for our historic buildings led her to campaign tirelessly to save them from the developers’ bulldozers. Her determination saved several hundred important buildings across the city, some dating back to the 1500s. Perhaps her greatest triumph was in rescuing Acton Court, just north of Bristol, from collapse. It’s now recognised as one of the most significant Tudor buildings in the country.
