Edward William Godwin (1833 - 1886) Architect, designer and author

Born in Bristol, E. W. Godwin should be to the Arts what Brunel is to the Sciences. He designed fantastical buildings, furniture and wallpaper, and decorated Oscar Wilde's apartment. His elopement with famous actress, Ellen Terry, produced two illegitimate children, and he went skint a couple of times. Godwin was a polymath, a complete dude. It is time for Bristol to celebrate the creativity of this extraordinary man.
