Sashes like these were worn across the shoulders as part of the Bristol Volunteers' uniform. High quality strong sashes like this were also used as stretchers on the battlefield when necessary. The condition of this sash suggests that it was only slightly used. It dates to about 1805, in the Late Georgian era.
