Inuit men carved tools and hunting amulets (charms against injury or to attract animals) from ivory, bone and wood. These bone figurines are an example of very little being wasted when an animal is killed. Animals are used for food, their skin for clothing, blankets, tents and boats. Their oil is used for cooking and lamps. Bones and ivory are used to make tools and amulets.

Inuit hunters have used sledges pulled by dogs since 800 AD. Snowmobiles are now used for everyday use but dogs are still used for tourism and hunting.
