Bottles like this were filled with poison gas in liquid form. The bottle was placed inside a shell and fired towards the enemy. When the shell burst, the bottle broke and vaporised gas sank down onto the soldiers below. Mustard gas was code-named ‘HS’ and was popularly known as ‘Hun Stuff’. Loaned by J. Mawson
