This brass point was filled with explosive and mounted on the front of a shell case which was filled with shrapnel. The numbers around the edge are part of the clockwork timing mechanism. When the timer wound down, the shell exploded and shrapnel sprayed out in all directions. Loaned by Glenn Fisher
