As part of the Bristol 2014 commemoration of the First World War, Bristol Refugee Action and Bristol City Council’s Learning Communities team have worked with refugees living in Bristol to help them produce stories about their personal experiences of conflict and reflect on their own connections to the First World War.

The group met weekly early in 2014 at the Malcolm X Centre in St Pauls. They talked about their lives, researched their links with the First World War, and recorded their stories.

The participants were: Esam Amin from Kurdistan (Iraq) Sindy Silongue from Zimbabwe Zahra Mohamed from Sudan Nathan Kerubairasa from Sri Lanka Amy Feika from Sierra Leone Silu Pascoe from Ghana Someone who wishes to remain anonymous from Somalia
