A mausoleum is a free standing building constructed over the tomb or burial chamber of one or more individuals. This mausoleum, known as the Taj Mahal, in India is one of the most famous in the world. Finished in 1653 it stands as a monument to Mumtaz Mahal, wife of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan.
