In the UK today 70% of people are cremated. People have a wide variety of choice when it comes to what to do with the ashes. Most choose to bury them, scatter them at a favourite place (with the landowners permission), or keep them at home. Cultural traditions vary, for instance the ashes of a Sikh are ideally scattered into running water that carries the remains to the sea. Some people are now doing more unusual things with the ashes such as adding them to an artificial reef in the sea, embedding them into a tattoo or exploding them in a firework.
