'Cigarettes and beer reminded a family of the deceased. He would always be the first to offer a round and never took a cigarette out of a packet before offering it to friends. His generosity defined him. The irony of these two items contributing to his ill health and death was lost to the family, for them the items only spoke of the loving person they had lost. They were placed on the coffin to remind those present of the essential him.'
