If a Hindu woman dies before her husband, she is traditionally dressed in a red bridal outfit for her funeral, showing that she avoided the life of a widow. A widowed Hindu woman would wear white or light coloured clothes, and one of these outfits would be used to dress her body. If a young girl dies, her body can be dressed in clothes of any colour.
