Made in Egypt (1817 - 1820).
The ancient Egyptians believed in an afterlife which was similar to life on earth, but better. People buried objects, food and drink with the dead, to feed the 'ka' (part of the spirit of a dead person).
They believed that after death the 'ka' lived on and returned to the body to eat and drink. If the 'ka' could not find its body, it would go hungry and the person might lose their eternal life.
