Made in England (1835-50).

One side of this mug shows John Wesley, the father of Methodism. The other has lines from the end of his 1759 hymn "Come let us join our friends above". Methodists believe that all people are born sinners and therefore it is important to attain forgiveness from Jesus Christ in order to go to heaven after death. Heaven for Methodists is a place of blessedness in the presence of God, in contrast to the eternal torment of Hell.
