A person known as a healer, sorcerer, shaman, medicine man, or witch doctor can be found in most cultures across the world. Their role is to understand what causes a person’s sickness and find a way of curing it. They may also be able to use their knowledge of the natural and supernatural world to cause harm and even death. These men and women sometimes use human remains as part of their magical powers. In many native North American tribes medicine bundles are created, which amongst other items can contain human hair and skin. Such bundles were and are considered holy. The Sioux people hold a medicine bundle that they believe can heal the sick as well as protecting the whole group from disaster.
