Mark Robinson, who donated this wheelchair in 2011, says:

'My cousin Courtenay suffered from a very rare condition called CMT (Charcot-Marie-Tooth) disease which is a form of Muscular Dystrophy.

He was a big fan of technology and engineering and as a result would have bought the latest cutting edge technology available.

I have no idea how much it cost and I never did find the receipt, however I'm sure it would have been quite expensive as electric wheelchairs were very much an emerging technology at the time.

At the time of purchase he could still walk but found it difficult over longer distances so the chair was a big help to him, although it was probably very difficult for any disabled person at the time due to the lack of awareness and lack of disabled access facilities available today.'
