In 1768, the showman Philip Astley drew out a ring in London and filled it with astonishing acts – tumblers, horses, acrobats, jugglers, and clowns. He created the first circus.

Bristol was one of six Circus250 cities, part of an exciting UK celebration and showcase of circus in 2018.
