The Hibernian Insurance Company was the first Irish fire assurance company, founded in 1771. It was later bought by the Sun Assurance in 1839.

The office was established in 1771 and absorbed by the Sun in 1837. There are three variants of their mark, all of which are lead; two have numbers on the policy plates, one deep, one narrow, and the third is marked 'Hibernia'. All are flat castings.
