This was a contemporary collecting project using the social networking site, Twitter. A theme was chosen each month and people living in Bristol were encouraged to tweet a photograph of their daily lives relevant to the theme with the hashtag #BristolAtHome. Some of these photographs were then collected.
A blog was set up to support the project: www.bristolathome.wordpress.com. It contained information about the project, a twitter feed showing the latest tweets using the hashtag, a selection of the best photographs each month, and posts including relevant photographs from the museums' historic collections.
The project was publicised via social media, posters at the museum sites and coverage in the local press. Curators also contacted local bloggers, asking them to participate and publicise the project, in order to make use of existing social networks.
