Angus Scott acted in a tragi-comedy called Widdershins while in the sixth form at
Clifton College in 1986. 'Everyone worked as one during rehearsals. I can't remember anyone throwing a strop or anything like that - we all really wanted to be there so just made the most of it.'
Although the production was a musical, Angus was frustrated to be given the only non-singing part: 'I felt like a bit of an outsider as a result, although my speaking part was actually a big one.' All the cast members played musical instruments on the stage, like the violin or trumpet: 'I got to play the triangle! My fellow actors thought it all very funny.'
The prospect of acting with girls from Clifton High and Redland School for Girls made taking part all the more exciting. 'There was often lots of chemistry between some of the actors playing the main parts.'
One of the best things about taking part in the production was the great sense of camaraderie amongst the cast members.
'It was a really great time in my life and I have carried the memories from it along with me ever since. The last show was a bittersweet occasion - we'd all spent so much time together and it was sad to think it was all coming to an end. It really marked the end of my school days for me.'
Angus is now a respected journalist and sports televison presenter. He fronts Al-Jazeera English's sports and previously worked for ITV.
