Engineer, Mervyn Alexander Snr. made this bicycle for his son Mervyn in his own time at Bristol Aeroplane Company. It's made of pram wheels and other found components. After jumps repeatedly broke the original frame, the bike was customised with telescopic wheel forks - a key feature in mountain bikes today, but state-of-the-art for its time, and unique in such a little bike. The Bristol Bicycle Workshop restored it in about 2007 to be in suitable condition for use by new generations of the Alexander family.
