After World War II, M Shed was used primarily by the Bristol Steam Navigation Company for its twice-weekly cargo service to Dublin. It was a temporary storage facility for bacon, potatoes, beef, butter - and lots of Guinness! The Company pioneered the use of shipping containers on this site before moving to Avonmouth in 1969.
