The Egyptians believed that the god lived in the cult statue in the temple, but there would be many other statues in the temple buildings. The cult statue could be made of gold, wood or stone. At certain festivals, the priests took it out of the room where it was kept and carried it around the temple. Other statues in the temple could be larger than life-size, or part of the building itself.
