Artists would have specialised in their work. An artist who painted tomb walls would not have also drawn the illustrations for a Book of the Dead on papyrus. Artists used stone and pottery fragments to practice on, or to doodle in their spare time. One of the ostraca here shows a figure drawn in one colour and corrected in another.
