This figure is an interesting and quirky piece, because it was unusual for ceramic figures of this era to show emotion. The boy's clothing is unusual too: a purple-sprigged jacket, with red and purple-flowered breeches. Such highly decorative attire was certainly not typical of boys' clothing during the1770s and can be attributed to the enthusiasm of the painters - keen to show off their skill. Produced by Richard Champion in about 1775.
