: A section of mosaic floor with a vessel surrounded by four ogee shaped panels containing quatrefoils, the ground between filled with peltas and plant forms. A dolphin at the centre of each side. This is the central panel of a mosaic floor from Brislington Roman Villa, which was constructed about 1700 years ago. It shows a two-handled vessel used for mixing wine and water. Mosaics like this made attractive and hard-wearing floors in expensive Roman buildings such as villas.
