Dish of porcelain with six lobes with brown 'lip rougue' glaze along rim (Japanese: fuchibeni ??). Decorated in underglaze blue with a design of a circle of two sprays of peony flowers with buds in centre. The border is divided into six panels with alternating images of young pine behind blue clouds, and a tree with plum blossom behind leafy grasses. The underside is decorate dwith a continuous scroll. There are lines along with footring. Within the footring enclosed in a large circle is a spiral fuku (Japanese: ?) 'luck' mark in a double square. There are six spur marks on the base. A note left by the collector, Irene Finch (1918-2019) reads: 'I Precursor'. Another sticker reads: 'GERALD BUSHELL COLLECTION' and on it in Irene Finch's handwriting: '97/73 50 repaired? repained. 1750s.'

Dish of porcelain decorated with red, pink, green, black and gilt enamels on underglaze blue. In the central rounel in a double circle is a stlised floret (Japanese: gobenka ???). In the surronding border are red, pink and gold cherry blossoms with blue and gold circles scattered about. Along the rim is a band of pale blue half-flowers with gold centres on dark blue. The underside is decorated with three branches of peony flowers in blue. Surrounding the footring is a thin band of red swirls. Within the footring enclosed in a large circle is a six-character mark in two lines that reads: ??????? (Japanese: taimin seika nensei) 'great Ming dynasty Chenghua period (1465-1487) make'. A note left by the collector, Irene Finch (1918-2019), reads: '94/26'

Similar to Finch 129. Dish of porcelain, a rectangular 'long plate' (Japanese: nagazara ??) with indented corners. Decorated in underglaze blue with contrasting fields divided along the diagonal by a bold zig-zag border, a design feature seen in Kodaiji lacquer of the Momoyama era (1568-1600). In one half is a landscape scene with a pine trees and flowers by a waterfall and rapids, with clouds, trees and hills in the distance. In the other half is an ocotpus arabesque (Japanese: tako karakusa ???) pattern, named after its resemblance to the suckers on an octopus' tentacle. The underside is decorate with a floral scroll on each side. On the footring is a geometric band. Within the rectangular footring on the base is a four-character mark in two lines that reads: ????(Japanese: Fuki Choshun), and means ‘wealth, nobility, longevity, and youth’. It is also translated as ‘good fortune and long life’ or ‘weath and everlasting spring’.

Trousers of Parsee woman's costume, bought by Miss Tanner at Yazd (Iran, 1890's). Basic rectangle 60" x 28" (approx. 150cm x 73cm). Waist, with blue tape drawstring in blue silk band above floral print on blue cotton, 60" x 11". Legs, rectangle, 18" long by 30" wide. Drawstring at bottom. Inner leg: coloured pattern weave of coarse cotton, over printed. Outer leg: Strips c2 1/4" wide of coloured silk and cotton (one pattern-weave), embroidered with flowers and birds in polychrome silk. Drawstring casing is machined. Red embroidered inscription at bottom of one leg.
