ONE POUND [And.w. Pope] Ent.d [J.W] The note is torn around the edges and is covered in tiny creases.

There is also a first dividend paid bankruptcy stamp in the centre of the note towards the bottom. The following is written on the note: No [A3270] Bristol Tolzey Bank.No. [A3270] I Promise to pay the Bearer on Demand the sum of One Pound. Value received the [19] day of [February] 181[8] For Samuel Worrall & Andrew Pope. ONE POUND [And.w. Pope] Ent.d [J. Watson] The note is dirty through age and there are some brown stains on the note. On the reverse is a design in the centre featuring the initials of the partners underneath is written "BRISTOL", and below this along the bottom of the note are two plaques with "ONE POUND" and "TOLZEY BANK" written inside. Along the left-hand side is a bankruptcy stamp with the date 22 July 1819.

Bank note printed on both sides in black ink. On the obverse in the top left-hand corner is the Bristol Coat of Arms supported either side by two unicorns. On top are two crossed arms holding a serpent and a pair of scales. The motto underneath reads "VIRTUTE ET INDUSTRIA". In the centre of the note towards the left is an embossed ? pence stamp. The following is written on the note: [A34] Bristol CITY Bank No[A34] [326] [326] I Promise to pay the Bearer on Demand the sum of One Pound Value received [7th of 1st mnth January] 18[15] For Henry Bengough, Joseph Haythorne and George Wright. One Pound [22/29] [Geo Wright] Ent.d. [John Veale] On the reverse is the word "one" within a rectangle with the corners cut out creating inward curving corners. Down either side within an interlaced design is the word "ONE POUND". Along the top and bottom edge within this same design it reads "BRISTOL" and "CITY BANK". The note is torn around the edges and especially in the corners, some writing is missing from the top left-hand corner. The note is also very dirty.
