"Marcella" wedding outfit - Irish tweed. Jacket (see skirt also TD31104.2)- The jacket is 570mm in length. The tweed material has shades of green, dark blue, light blue and copper in it. It has a centre seam at the back and is Waisted. It has long sleeves and cuffs that have been stiffened and cut to form points. It has a rever collar and four hidden pockets: two above the bust and two below waist level. The pockets above the bust line are edged. At the front of the jacket there are darts from the bust to the hem. The jacket has three large plastic brown buttons at the centre front and has a brown man made fibre (rayon) lining. Label at neck states: "Designed and Tailored for Barnett - Hutton Ltd by Harella". Label at side states: "Guaranteed Irish Tweed". Circa 1950.

Printed towards the top of the 'correspondence' side is "T.N.T. - to-day, not to-morrow. Minister of Production", seemingly a 2nd World War reference.

Hollow bronze bust of Old Bill character by cartoonist Bruce Bainsfather, created in 1914-15. Old Bill was an elderly, moustacheod pipe-smoking British "tommy" and was very popular during World War I. This one was reputed to have been made to fix to a car bonnet.

The face is painted black and there is a hole in the nose (which would have been used as a hole for suspending a clay pipe). "Aunt Sally" is printed on the box lid along with the maker "F.H.Ayres Ltd. London".
