This certificate was issued to Gilbert Barnes in March 1919 when he was sent home to Bristol, so that he could prove he had not deserted his regiment. The stamps at the bottom show that Gilbert received a few weeks’ pay before he was finally demobilised. Loaned by Colin Barnes
