Gilbert Barnes was issued this seven day return ticket from France to Bristol in 1916, to allow him to travel home on leave. These short visits were all that many families saw of their loved ones for nearly five years. In 1919, Gilbert was finally able to come home for good. Loaned by Colin Barnes
