: 'Neo-guan' (2012) is composed of three porcelain vases decorated with enamel designs. One of the vases has a short flared mouth on a high shouldered body, and a thinner vertical foot, while the other two have long necks resting on low, squat shoulders, and short vertical feet. All three vases are flattened on two sides, and are coated in a white matte glaze covered in overglaze enamels. The high-shouldered vase has bands of sprawling gold enamel foliate scrolls decorating both the neck and the base of the vase. The top band is split into three registers: the top and bottom registers are decorated in gold enamelwork on the white porcelain body, while the middle register is decorated in gold leaf on a black enamel register. The foliate scroll crosses the three registers, alternating between the two techniques of decoration. The bottom floral scroll uses the same techniques but consists of only two registers: gold enamel on white body at the top, and gold leaf on black enamel at the bottom. Of the two low-shouldered vases, one bears a band of green and black enamel foliate patterns on a gold leaf ground around its neck. On opposite sides of the body, the base is decorated with a pink and green enamel lotus flower in bloom, and a mandarin duck. The other low-shouldered vase lacks the foliate scroll, and bears a realistic enamel crane on one side, and a closed lotus bud and stem on the other.
