Opening of the Royal Edward Dock
Work began on the new dock in 1902. Edward, Prince of Wales, came to Bristol to cut the first sod. He returned on 9 July 1908 as King Edward VII, with Queen Alexandra, to open the dock named in his honour. BRO 35517/47
