Illuminated address to Lieut. Col. Daniel Burges VC, DSO, Gloucestershire Regiment, from the Lord mayor, Council and Citizens of Bristol. Address on central panel, handwritten in Celtic font, congratulating Lt. Col. Burges on his award of a VC, citing the Gazette entry, signed by Lord Mayor, Town Clerk and Sheriff. Hand-painted border in watercolour, with City Arms at top with supporters and crest, and two Union flags angled to corners. On one side, a Glosters soldier of 1856, on the other ditto of 1918 in battle fatigues. They are stood on plinths, each with a vignette of soldiers advancing (left) and going over the top through barbed wire (right). Below, 2 Glosters badges surmounted by VC in a laurel wreath. Spaces filled in with palm leaves, acanthus leaves and a border of tied laurel leaves Signed R.E.J. Bush. 1919

Remington Rolling Block single shot breech-loading military rifle made for the Egyptian Army. Round steel rifled barrel with flattened breech. Blade foresight and adjustable ramp rearsight. Muzzle with bayonet mounting bar. The breech stamped with Egyptian Ordnance marks. Breech-loading action with rotating breech-block, the block pivoting rearward for loading and containing a firing pin and hinged extractor, each component stamped with Ordnance mark. Attached to the stock by 3 steel barrel bands (the middle band with a sling swivel), each with a spring retainer and each stamped with crescent & star. Wooden 2 piece stock (butt and fore-stock) the underside of butt with sling swivel, the left side of butt stamped with Egyptian Ordnance mark. Steel furniture comprising butt-plate, trigger guard and nose-cap. Iron receiver containing lock mechanism and breech block each part stamped with a crescent & star. Upper tang of receiver stamped 'Remingtons Ilion NY. USA. Pat May 3d Nov: 16th 1864; April 17th 1868'. Cleaning rod missing.

Rim-fire cartridge revolver by Smith & Wesson, Model 1 1/2. Five shot fluted cylinder. Steel barrel and frame, the two joined by a top strap and hinged for tip release and loading. The fluted barrel with white metal blade sight and ejector rod and stamped along the top edge 'Smith & Wesson, Springfield, Mass.Pat.April 3.55 July 5.59 & Nov 2.65'. The rear part of the frame forming a support for the wooden 'birds-head' form grips. Stud trigger. 2-piece walnut grips with central screw fixing.

Albanian miquelet lock long-gun with octagonal barrel held to the stock by 5 engraved brass barrel bands, the rear band also formed with a raised rear sight. Wooden full stock with “fish-tail” form butt, the whole decorated with inscribed lines together with star-shaped punch marks. The rear section of the butt partly formed of bone with sections of wooden banding. Iron ramrod. Iron loop form trigger guard and scroll trigger. Miquelet lock of Balkan form with decorative bridle linking the cock and frizzen. The cock also with a “winged” jaw screw. 19th century. - Brian Godwin

1896 Lee Enfield Mark 1 Bolt-action magazine rifle. Round steel barrel, rifled, with a raised blade foresight and calibrated and adjustable rear sight graduated to 500 yards. Retained to the stock by 2 steel barrel bands, the rear band with a integral sling swivel, the forward band also forming the nose-cap with integral bayonet lug. Wooden three-quarter stock, the butt formed with a 'pistol grip'. Small separate hand-guard covering the top of breech. The underside of the butt with a sling swivel; Stamped with serial number 9257F. Brass butt plate and loop form trigger guard. Receiver ring stamped with Crown, Enfield 1896, L.E.1. Steel receiver with bolt action (missing), the left side stamped , together with the serial number 9257F. Removable magazine (damaged) with chain retainer. Swivelling magazine cut-off. 2-piece volley sight on left side of receiver - the rear part formed as a folding bar with peep-sight; the forward part with pivoting marker and calibrated dial.
